Some people like to own and admire antique and vintage treasures and some people like to wear and use them. Whether you are buying for investment or pure pleasure, you can be assured Real Green Dress has drawn on decades of professional experience in conservation, curatorship and design.
I started Real Green Dress in 2012, after a career in conservation with national museums. People are always telling me how lucky I am to have such a wonderful job. I never forget it is made possible by my various and diverse customers, who are the nicest of people.
We all like to do our bit for the environment (I’ve yet to meet a customer who doesn’t) but when it comes to planning a wedding or an event, being green isn’t always easy. The ‘Real’ in Real Green Dress is a good start, wearing real vintage dresses must be the most glamorous side of recycling. For brides there are two collections to choose from; Pure, original restored vintage and Evolution, a unique collection of remodelled gowns.
But what about the ‘Green’? I try to be as green as possible in all aspects of the business. Dresses are cleaned before sale using the least invasive treatment methods possible. This is not the easiest or quickest choice but better for your dress and for the environment. I’m not wasting my years of museum training either! The studio is in a converted farm building, furnished with vintage and recycled treasures. If you come to visit there will be organic tea and biscuits on offer, or fair trade coffee if you prefer. And it doesn’t stop there. Mail order dress boxes and boutique carrier bags are reusable and all our printing is done with environmentally friendly inks on sustainable card. Not the cheapest option but I’m happier with it that way.
You are welcome to visit the studio on the Surrey Hampshire borders by appointment (call 01276 513368 or email firstname.lastname@example.org) or have a look at the list of shows and fairs we will be attending. We also ship dresses all over the world via mail order so if you can’t visit, just ask.
